Update: 11:15AM A team of firefighters and police officers are trying to establish if anyone has been injured or trapped after a wheat silo (storage tank) collapsed at the FMF warehouse at Leonidas Street, Suva.
It is still not known if anyone is injured or trapped but unconfirmed reports has come to hand that one person is suspected to be trapped under the debris.
The Fiji Times reporter Mary Rauto, who isat the scene, said the workers suspect someone was trapped under the debris, however, this is still being established by police and fire fighters.
"The whole of Leonidas Street has been blocked and there is no mobility as the teams are trying to determine if any person is trapped under the debris as a result of the collapse of the wheat silo," she said.
Assistance Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the incident occurred around 10am.
"A wheat silothat stores wheat collapsed and workers suspect that one of their customers might be trapped under the debris," he said.
"We are at the moment trying to establish this and at the same time trying to account for all the staff working during this shift at the warehouse,"
