THE prestigious Sukuna Bowl will be at stake at the tfl National Stadium this afternoon.
The teams have prepared well for the annual clash with the players having plied their trade in club competition, provincial matches and the national team.
The Sukuna Bowl match has been an annual competition between the forces since it began in 1951.
Police was the first team to have its name engraved on the bowl. Both disciplined forces have shared the title seven times and were last locked in a draw in 2004. Army has won the coveted Cup 21 times while Police has lifted the prestigious title 23 times.
Both teams will be banking on fans and families for support.
Army has expressed confidence in ending the Police dominance.
With well-known players like Dale Tonawai, Iveri Lavo, Iliavi Satala, Sireli Ledua, Alefoso Yalayalatabua, Waqabaca Kotobalavu, Jolame Bera and Leone Nakarawa, the soldiers have the experience and strength to provide a stiff challenge.
But Police captain Etonia Naba confirmed both teams had made long preparations for this expected clash.
"Certainly, only the team that creates less mistakes wins," Naba said.
The police side wrapped up preparation with a captain's run yesterday afternoon in front of the Police Commissioner and senior police officers at the Nasova ground.
The Sukuna Bowl match kicks off at 4pm.
