IN an act of faith, members of the Methodist Church gave $80,000 more than the intended target at their annual fundraising.
Church general secretary Reverend Tevita Nawadra said they had targetted $600,000 but raised $680,000 and money was still coming in from the various circuits.
"There has been extra," said Mr Nawadra.
"Some of the money are still coming in.
"We were expecting $600,000 from the annual bazaar, conference and the choir competition.
"We are exceedingly happy that we managed to pass our target and we want to thank our members who have come out during these difficult times to support the church.
"It has touched us a lot.
"For them to give even when the price of things have gone up is a good thing."
By Friday last week, the church had exceeded the $600,000 mark.
Church officials met on Monday to tally the amount collected.
The end of October was officially the final day for the solevu but some church members faced difficulties and asked for more time to collect and send in their donation.
Mr Nawadra last week said they had received $45,000 from the Suva division.
He said the amount excluded the $10 per person church fund.
"We have been receiving calls and expect to receive more money over the next week.
"We have money from more than half the 53 divisions in the church."
