Update: 11:55AM STUDENTS and teachers of Savusavu Secondary School were shocked when a blast was heard within the school compound - caused by crude matchstick bomb allegedly made by students.
Two students were taken in for questioning by police over the incident.
Northern Police Commander Senior Superintendent Luke Qionibaravi said students were in class when they heard a blast on Wednesday morning.
Teachers went out to investigate the cause of the blast and discovered the two boys, he said.
They found some of the bomb, the size of marbles that the students had made from the head of match sticks.
They scraped the head of matches and somehow made it into small marble sizes.
Mr Qionibaravi said the students admitted they had learnt about making the explosive device from the internet.
He warned parents to closely monitor the internet activities of their children.
The internet can be a dangerous place for children and parents really need to closely monitor their children and not allow them unfettered use of the internet, he said.
Police investigations continue.
