OVERSEAS neuro surgeons held 104 consultations and performed surgery on 20 patients.
Colonial War Memorial Hospital acting superintendent Dr Joseph Kado said neuro-surgeon Dr Chandaran and anaesthetist Dr Cliff of Canberra Hospital, Australia were in Fiji on a 10-day visit.
"They started clinics and surgery on October 17 and finished on November 5," Dr Kado said.
The team consulted on 104 cases including 20 children and did 20 operations ranging from VP shunt insertion, brain tumour resection, laminectomy, drainage of brain abscesses and others.
He said patients operated on a range of ages from six weeks to 60 years.
"This team has been visiting Fiji for many years and intend to continue for two to three years.
"Their trip is funded and assisted by Fiji Community in Canberra, ABC (Action for Better Community), Sai Baba organisation, and Medtronics who supplied neurosurgical equipment and shunts".
