Vodafone strikes back

Saturday, November 07, 2009

MOBILE telephony giant Vodafone has volleyed Digicel's prepay plan with a recharge promotion set to keep phones ringing till the end of the year or beyond.

The price war has begun Vodafone's promotion has a $25 recharge accompanied by $100 free credit in reply to Digicel's $20 recharge with $100 credit plan announced this week.

However, the difference is on the expiry of the free credit, Vodafone offering up to 90 and 180 ($25 recharge) days with Digicel lasting a month.

"Not only has Vodafone countered all offers, it has extended the promotion to cater for a wider range of customers, especially those who can only afford low value recharge," Vodafone official Shailendra Prasad said.

He said Vodafone customers could enjoy a double-up with a $5 recharge, triple-up on a $11 recharge, four-up on a $15 recharge and five-up on a $25 recharge.

"Our promotions are tailored to benefit all our customers, not just a few," said Avanthi Senarate, Vodafone's chief marketing officer.
