Blues move political

NAVUA team director Ratu Ifereimi Buaserau says it is a political move by Lautoka officials to suspend two players over bribery allegations after the IDC final.

Blues' Valerio Nawatu and goalkeeper Alifereti Baleiloa were cleared on Wednesday because of lack of evidence and Buaserau said the allegations were a non issue from the start.

"We knew from the beginning that there was nothing in Lautoka's claims and that has been proven after they didn't find anything on the players," he said.

"It was just a game and Navua won. Such is the nature of sports that one team will win and another will lose.

"To me the move was political from the beginning because Navua won the final fair and square.

"We're just glad that it has been sorted out now." Buaserau said he was praying for the Blues to do well in their next O-League match Hekari Souths FC on Saturday.

"They are representing Fiji and the whole country is behind them.

"I advise the players and officials of Lautoka to be focused on beating Hekari and forget the IDC loss." Speaking at a press conference in Suva yesterday, Buaserau said Navua players were doing their own training for the promotional match against Mirchi All Stars on December 13.

He said it was likely that some key players from the IDC squad would be missing.

"The overseas-based players will not be part of the team." Buaserau said it was not confirmed yet whether Pita Bolaitoga and Lorima Dau, who joined PNG club Hekari Souths FC after the IDC, would be available.

"But we will do our best to beat the Mirchi All Stars," he said.
