Tragic deaths

Kalesi Mele
Thursday, September 14, 2017

WHEN Suresh Narayan received a call after 10pm on Tuesday from New Zealand, he knew something was wrong.

His daughter's father-in-law was calling to convey the news of his daughter Sheetal Ram's tragic passing.

His heart was heavy because he was nowhere near his daughter.

Sheetal and her husband, Avneel Ram, were recovered dead yesterday morning from a lake in Halswell, Christchurch, New Zealand.

It is believed that Avneel was giving Sheetal driving lessons when the car slipped into the lake. Witnesses told New Zealand Herald that Avneel jumped into the lake trying to save his wife, but he did not surface after some time.
