JARRYD Hayne had opted to play first five-eighth instead of his usual full back position because he is a great team player, Vodafone Fiji Bati media relations manager Petero Civoniceva said.

"It also shows his versatility. Being a true team player, Jarryd opted to play five-eighth knowing that we have a wonderful full back and skipper Kevin Naiqama," Civoniceva said.

"But we are spoiled, in the sense of the richness in talent we have in our backline with the likes of Akuila Uate, Suliasi Vunivalu, Taane Milne and the others."

Hayne last played at first receiver in the early 2000s when he was with the Parramatta Eels.

While he had a scratchy first game against USA, the Hayne "Plane" touched down against Wales where he also notched the record for the highest try scorer in the world cup,

Hayne has scored 14 tries in world cup tournaments to edge Kangaroos' Billy Slater at 13 tries.

"I think he has been really good for us, his direction in the park and alongside Kevin and Aku."
