Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi

at 5:30am on Tuesday the 4th of August 2015

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF LAU AND

LOMAIVITI, YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, EASTERN AND

NORTHERN VITI LEVU, KADAVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS.

Situation: A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain

remains slow moving over Fiji. It is expected to ease and clear from

the west tonight.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:

For Lau and Lomaiviti group, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Vanua Levu,

Eastern and Northern Viti Levu, Kadavu, Taveuni and its nearby

smaller islands land areas:

East to southeast winds with speeds of 45 to 55km/hr and momemtary

gusts to 65km/hr.

Elsewhere: Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds.

Rough to very rough seas.

Occasional rain over most places. Isolated heavy falls and

thunderstorms expected. Rain easing easing and clearing from the west

tonight.

Outlook for WEDNESDAY : Some showers over the eastern and interior of

larger islands. Elsewhere, afternoon or evening showers.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :

Occasional showers.

Outlook for WEDNESDAY : Some showers.   

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba :

Fine apart from brief showers.

Outlook for WEDNESDAY : Afternoon or evening showers.

For Labasa :

Fine apart from brief showers.

Outlook for WEDNESDAY : Afternoon or evening showers.

For Savusavu : Occasional showers.

Outlook for WEDNESDAY : Some showers.

For Rotuma :

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ROTUMA LAND AREAS AND

WATERS.

Over Waters: Southeast winds 25 to 30 knots, gusting to 40 knots.

Rough seas. Moderate southerly swells.

Over Land: East to southeast winds with speeds of 45 to 55km/hr and

momemtary gusts to 65km/hr.

Occasional showers, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

Outlook for WEDNESDAY : Some showers.
